Grade 2

Week of June 7-11

Hi Grade Two Families,

On Thursday, the class wore orange in support of Orange Shirt Day. The students learned about the significance of this day and prayed for the children who were treated unfairly at residential schools. To show our sympathy and support for these First Nations families, Grade Two reflected on the past and how to make the world a better place in the future for all children.

On a happier note, the students got to watch our butterflies emerge from their cocoons this past week! Then, at the end of the week, we got to set them free. It was wonderful to see how observant the children were while raising these butterflies and how excited they were to finally release them! The students enjoyed identifying each stage of a butterfly’s life cycle up close. Great work, Grade Two!

Finally, Happy Feast of Corpus Christi! Today, we celebrate the Eucharist as being the body of Christ! What better week to be receiving Communion for the first time?! The children have been continuing to practice the steps to receiving the Eucharist and even had the opportunity go over to the church to practice with Solomon, our seminarian. He also let them try unconsecrated hosts to taste what it’s like! I look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday, at your respective times, to celebrate your children’s First Holy Communion!
