Grade 2

January 22-26

Dear Grade Two Families,

On Monday, we had a Dress Down day for Black Excellence Day. In class, we learned about Viola Desmond and how she sat down to stand up for equal rights! In honour of Viola’s legacy, we can now find her on the Canadian $10 bill. Our class was inspired by her bravery and created their own bank notes as a reminder to stand up for what is right.

We have an exciting week ahead of us as we look forward to celebrating the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul on Thursday. If you didn’t get a chance to hand in your Feast Day form last week, you may bring it in on Monday. Please note that this day is an early dismissal at 12:45 pm.

Because of Thursday’s festivities, your child will be bringing home their Gold Book for First Communion on Friday instead. More information about what to do with this book will be covered at our first parent meeting on Wednesday, January 24 at 6:45 pm in the school gym. Thank you, also, for your flexibility with the revised schedule! It seems a little bit like deja vu writing this week’s blog because I will be sharing the same information from last week about First Communion! TAKE TWO! 🙂

We’ll restart the First Communion program this week! It is a joyous time as the children get to know Jesus a lot more and develop their relationship with Him in preparation for this beautiful sacrament. You can find out more about the program in the letter that was sent home, and at our mandatory first parent meeting this Wednesday. Please make sure you sign in with me before the meeting starts. We will end off the week by attending Mass together on Saturday, January 27 at 5:00 pm in the church. All details and more will be communicated at the meeting on Wednesday. See you then!
