Grade 7

Week of Monday June 13 – Friday June 17th (and other dates/info)

Hello Parents!

We have a very busy week ahead. Most of these items you have already been made aware of so these are just reminders.

Baking Inquiry

To close out our focus on identifying the effects of chemical changes, the students have been assigned an experiment to do at home over the weekend – but it is an edible assignment!

The students will be baking 4 simple mini cakes using basic ingredients that you will likely already have in your pantry and it will require the use of your oven. This is an activity that the students can easily complete independently with parental supervision (to take photos). Please note that only the experiment needs to be completed at home, we will do the rest at school. Students can collaborate in person on this or over Zoom.

Directions for the procedures are in the STEM Google Classroom and should take about 75 minutes (this includes gathering/measuring ingredients + baking time). If you have any questions, please let me know!

Confirmation – Tuesday June 14th @ 7pm

This Tuesday, your child will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation! Confirmands should arrive at 6:30pm wearing their robes and go directly to the Parish Centre Rooms 1/2 to receive their Saint nametag.

Sponsors should arrive also at 6:30pm and can go right into the church to find their reserved seats (the same place they sat at the rehearsal).

Parents can also find a seat at 6:30pm. Please do not sit in any reserved pews as you will be asked to move 🙂

Following the Mass, the newly Confirmed will go directly to the gym (Parish Centre) for the group photo with the Archbishop. Once the photo is taken, parents/family/sponsors will be welcomed inside to enjoy treats and refreshments provided by our Grade Five parents.

At the reception, opportunities for individual family photos with the Archbishop will be available.

Grade 7 Art Exhibition – Thursday June 16th @12-2pm

If you would like to see the beautiful art pieces that the Grade 7’s have created as part of their Artist Inquiry that they have been hard at work on over the past 6 weeks, please pop by the Parish Centre, Rooms 1/2, for a few minutes between 12pm – 2pm) to see their work on display.

This coming Friday the Grade 7’s will present their variety show, Leaving With a Big Bang!, featuring original skits written and performed by the Grade 7’s, our Rock Band performing four songs, and raffle draws for prizes. The show will be approximately 1hr in duration.

All are welcome! However, we aim to begin at 11am sharp, so if you plan on attending, please try to arrive on time to both secure a seat (as seating will be limited) and avoid missing anything!
