Confirmation Reminders & Other Gr 7 News (May 1st -5th)

Hello Grade 7 Parents,

This Tuesday May 2nd is your child’s Confirmation! Alleluia!

Here are a few key reminders:

  1. Confirmands (those being Confirmed) arrive at 6:30pm wearing their red robes and go straight to the school gym.
  2. The group photo will be taken at this time and students that have not yet paid for a photo that wanted to order one may give their order form with $20 payment to the photographer.
  3. In order to help the photo be taken in a timely manner, we ask that parents not come in to the gym at this time. Please take this opportunity to find seats in the church.
  4. Sponsors/proxies should arrive between 6:30pm-6:40pm and find their seats and ensure that their Confirmands saint card is in front of them in the pew and has the correct name on it.
  5. If you were hoping to take photos with your family outside prior to the Mass, please come prior to 6:30pm as the students must come in to the gym at 6:30pm. No photography is permitted during the Mass.
  6. Confirmands should wear Sunday best dress clothes underneath their robes. To quote the title of a classic Phil Collins album, no jacket required. It will be warm that day 🙂 Also, the Confirmands hair should not cover their foreheads as this is where Father Smith will be placing the chrism oil.
  7. The Confirmation Mass will begin at 7pm. Families may invite as many people to the Mass as they want.
  8. A reception with light refreshments will take place in the school gym following the Mass. There will be an opportunity for photos with Father Smith at this time. The newly Confirmed should stay in their robes until after these photos.
  9. Please continue to pray for the soon to be Confirmed as they are fully initiated into our Catholic faith!

Please let me know if you have any questions ahead of Tuesday. I am honoured to have been a part of their faith journey in helping them to prepare for this Sacrament.

Recycling for Richmond Food Bank

This past Wednesday, St. Paul alumni, Amanda Chui (class of 2021), recently gave a presentation to the intermediate classes outlining her work on a community project she is completing that aims to bring attention to the rising costs of food and our climate crisis. Amanda is raising money for the Richmond Food Bank by collecting and recycling drink containers.

Amanda is requesting that every student at St. Paul School bring one beverage container (empty and washed) to school on Thursday May 4th.

Classroom teachers will collect them, the Grade 7 students will bag them and then Amanda will take them to be recycled, collect the deposits and donate the total proceeds to the Richmond Food Bank!

Thank you for your support for one of our former graduates on her community project.
