I’m excited to announce that Grades 3-7 began the “1000 hours outside” challenge today in PE class. The stated goal of the program is to attempt to spend 1000 hours outside during a single calendar year. Students will be tracking their outdoor time both at school and at home in hopes of making it to 1000 total hours. Grades 1 & 2 will also participate and will learn more about the challenge during Wednesday’s PE classes. Students will be receiving tracking sheets tomorrow so they can begin to visually keep track of their “green time” in the great outdoors. I will also be participating and have set a personal goal of 1000 hours of outdoor time by the end of this school year!
More information will follow – here’s a link to the website which will provide additional insight and activity ideas for both students and families as well.
