Grade 1

May 6-10

Hello Grade One Families,

Thank you to Ms. Lee for subbing into our Grade One classroom the past two weeks! Mrs. D and Mrs. Mallari returned this week, and got to hear about all the fun that the children had in class! Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers for both Mrs. Mallari’s Father’s passing, as well as Ms. Carroll’s nuptials. We are blessed to be part of such a wonderful Grade One Community.

We have started a unit on Canadian coins, students are learning about the names and values of the different coins as well as skip counting with them (eg. counting dimes by 10 and nickels by 5).  We know that many families buy online or use credit cards so that some students are not familiar with coins.  Please take some coins out for your child to count and play with so they will have a better understanding of our money unit.
