February 24th-28th

This week, we celebrated our 100th Day of School! The students made 100th Day crowns, crafted cereal necklaces using 100 Frootloops, and created art with the numbers 1-0-0. 2. Fun Friends- Please review Session 4 and discuss “Relaxation Strategies” with your child (this book can stay at home but please remember to review some activities in the assigned session with your child)
  3. Bookmark Contest– Inside your child’s homework folder on Monday will be a Bookmark Contest Entry form. For those interested in participating, please have your child design and colour their own bookmark on the sheet, using the theme Move and Play All Through the Day. Please submit the form to school by Monday, March 9th. We also encourage you to have a conversation with your child about the different ways they can keep their bodies moving throughout the day and why it is important to exercise.
  4. “Read-Well” book– This book contains all of your children’s work in our Language Arts Program “Read Well.” Please review the letter of the week and use the “Parent Prompt” questions (found at the bottom of each page) with your child.
    • If you notice that your child has not finished the back of their Letter Record page in class, please brainstorm with them three words that begin with that letter. Then, have them write down the three words on the dotted lines and draw their corresponding pictures in the blank box.

Friendly Reminders:

  1. 100’s Day Gallery Walk– The students are so proud of their 100s Day Projects and are excited to share them with you! Please stop by our classroom this Tuesday, February 25th from 2:30-2:55pm to check out the children’s projects and skip count to 100 with them! Please see the email for more details.
  2. Lenten School Mass – We look forward to seeing many of you at morning Mass! Reminder that Mass is at 8:15 am to accommodate families. Please have your child sit in the front rows with the rest of the school staff and students. You are welcome to have your child sit with you, if you will also be attending Mass and would prefer to sit together as a family.
  3. School Uniform:
    • Sweaters- Please check your child’s school sweater(s) to ensure they have brought home their own, as we have had a few incidents of lost sweaters. We also kindly remind you to label your child’s sweater so that they can be returned, if they go missing.
    • Accessories– Please keep accessories simple and discreet. No jewellery except small studs for pierced ears and no nail polish. Hair accessories should match the uniform.
  4. Toys – Just a friendly reminder that unless it is your child’s show and tell, please be sure to keep toys at home, so that they don’t get lost or broken at school.

Upcoming Dates:

  1. Friday, February 6th– Fukuroku Hot Lunch (for those who ordered)

Please let us know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

With love,
