December 7th-11th

This week was a busy one in Kindergarten as we had our Pyjama Party and Advent Celebration! All week, the children have been telling their friends about the Christmas pyjamas they would be wearing and were so excited to finally come to school dressed in them yesterday! They did a wonderful job filming their song for the Christmas concert in their pyjamas and are very eager for you to see it soon!

On the same day, Kindergarten also had a joyous Advent celebration, filled with a delicious lunch and exciting Christmas-themed activities. Special thanks to Mrs. Castillo and Mrs. Yun for all the time and effort they put into organizing this event! The children had so much fun participating in all the Christmas festivities and were filled with lots of cheer!

  1. 10 to 15 minutes of home reading (please use “My Reading” book, “My Read Well” book, online reading programs, library books, or books from home)
  2.  “On My Way to Bethlehem” Sheet– Inside your child’s Reading Book (yellow folder), you will find a Journey to Bethlehem sheet. Please colour in one circle every day as we make our way to Bethlehem and count down the days until Jesus’ birth!
  3. Christmas Card– Because we are unable to hand out class treats to our classmates this year, we would like to keep the spirit of giving alive by handing out Christmas cards to our classmates instead! Therefore, your child will be assigned one friend to make or write a Christmas card for. An email will be sent on Monday regarding which friend your child is assigned. Please bring your card in by Monday, December 14th. As per COVID protocol, the cards will remain in our classroom for at least three days before being distributed on the last day of school.
  4. Read Well Record Pages– If you notice that your child has not finished the back of their Letter Record page in class, please brainstorm with them three words that begin with that letter. Then, have them write down the three words on the dotted lines and draw their corresponding pictures in the blank box.

Friendly Reminders:

  1. Homework folders– These will continue to be sent home every day. Please check the folders daily and send them back to school every day as your child is expected to hand them in each morning.
  2. My Reading” book– This will be sent home every day. Please continue 10 to 15 minutes of daily reading with your child and place this book inside your child’s homework folder every day.
  3. My Read Well” book–This book contains all of your children’s work in our Language Arts Program “Read Well.” Please review the letter of the week and use the “Parent Prompt” questions (found on the bottom of the page) with your child.
