Grade 5

Week of January 23 – 27, 2023

Hello Grade Five Families!

In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus calls His apostles to give up their lives to follow Him. I was privileged to hear a homily today about how we are all worthy of Jesus’s call to be part of His “team” and are chosen to bring our own unique gifts and talents to our place as one of His followers. This particularly resonated with me today as I am in the process of writing the Communicating Student Learning reports for the Grade Fives this weekend. It made me pause and reflect on how each of the members of our class community bring their unique selves to school every day and that as followers of Jesus, He has placed us all together for His purpose. How blessed we are to be called and loved by Him!

I think that one of the boys summed up last week very well when he said (in reference to math class), “At the beginning, I thought that it would last forever and then the next thing I knew it was over!”. Last week it was Monday and then suddenly it was Thursday at 3:00pm and the students’ week of school was over, but what a wonderful week it was! I hope that you all received my email about our first ski day and the lovely photo taken by Mrs. Dos Santos. We are looking forward to another ski day this coming Friday.

On Wednesday January 25, our school will celebrate the Feast Day of our patron saint. Please read Mrs. Moorehead’s email about the day and send in the Feast Day Lunch form that was attached to the email. Thank-you!

I would like to wish all of our families who are celebrating the Lunar New Year this weekend a very happy, healthy, and prosperous new year!
