Hello Grade Five Families!
I hope that you all enjoyed this first weekend of February! Last week the students were able to experience two special days of the Catholic Church. On Thursday we celebrated the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord along with the blessing of the candles for Candlemas and on Friday we returned to the Church to receive the blessing of the throat on the feast day of St. Blaise. We are very blessed to have Fr. Smith and Fr. Felix guiding us in learning about these traditions of our Catholic faith.
All of the students who were in class on Friday received their Communicating Student Learning report. If they were absent, they will receive it when they return to school. Please remove your child’s report, sign the white folder to acknowledge receipt of the CSL report, and return the white folder inside of the original envelope on Monday February 6, 2023. The same folder and envelope will be used for the June report. Thank-you!
Thank-you to everyone for your support of our ski program so far, especially to the parents who have accompanied us and helped/supervised the students on the ski days. Our replacement ski day is Wednesday February 15 and Mr. Kelly has sent out an email asking for volunteers for that day. We will need parents to supervise as we have on our past three ski days. If you are able to accompany us and supervise on the 15th, please email Mr. Kelly (and copy me) to let us know. Even if you have spoken to Mr. Kelly or me personally about it, please email so that we have accurate numbers for the purchase of parent passes and making the ski groups. If you are able to help, please respond to Mr. Kelly’s email by Friday February 10. Thank-you!
This week we will begin a new unit for Open Parachute. This unit will address anger and anger management. There is an audio clip on the parent portal to accompany this unit. Please let me know if you are not able to access the parent portal and I will send you a new link.

- please return CSL folders and envelopes
- last day to send in Spirit Wear order forms and cheques
- PE class ~ PE strip is needed
Tuesday
- spelling test and spelling homework is due today
- please remind you child to return any school library books that they may have brought home
Wednesday
- PE class ~ PE strip is needed
- Assembly at 1:15pm led by Grades 1 and 5 ~ please join us!
Thursday
- 9:15am Mass ~ please join us!
- Grade 5 will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation today
- White Spot hot lunch for those who ordered
Friday
- PE class ~ PE strip is needed
