The students of Grade 5 have been working incredibly hard over the past few weeks to transfer their learning from the first few months of school to their own projects and presentations. I have so enjoyed reading their Autobiographies and clicking through their Google Slides presentations on sustainability. They are such a keen and hard working group. These next few weeks we will slow down a bit as we wrap up the main themes and topics of first term. This slowing down is in perfect harmony of my favourite time of year, Advent. As we lessen our work load, we begin to raise more awareness to the coming of Christ and reflect on the many wonderful things we are blessed with because of Him. During the month of December, I encourage the students to bring in any of their favourite Christmas books, memories or traditions that they wish to share with the class. We will use our daily Read Aloud time to hear the students tell their own stories (either reading a book or a written summary of a personal memory or tradition that they wish to share) as we begin to get in the spirit of Christmas (and practice our oral storytelling skills ). There is no obligation to present, only for those that wish to 🙂
