Grade 3

September 13th ~ 17th

Hello Grade 3 Families!

It was great to start to get to know your children last week^^* We had a wonderful first week of school, and the students are well into learning the Grade 3 routines!

On Tuesday all of the Grade 3 students were given a responsibility in the classroom. This is to help them become progressively more responsible, since next year they will be the older Buddies for the Grade 1 students. This will be their last year being part of  “the younger ones” in primary.

Thank you for signing and returning your child’s agenda book last week, along with initialing their RED (Read Every Day) reading log. The students were shown how to fill out the daily information in their reading log last week, and were informed that they are required to read for 20 minutes at home during weekdays (30 minutes starting in November). Please encourage them to do this consistently by reading with them and by asking questions  on what they read to expand their comprehension skills. Reading every day makes a big difference in developing their reading skills, and it strengthens their writing skills by helping them acquire new vocabulary!

If you need to communicate with me you can write a note in your child’s agenda that I will read in the morning, or you can also send me an email. If your email is sent before 8 am, it will also be read in the morning, but any emails sent after that time will possibly be read between 4 and 5 pm. The reason for this is that I am very much involved with the Grade 3 students learning and spend most of my time walking around the classroom assisting them in various ways during class time.

I am looking forward to meeting you on Monday evening for the Grade 3 presentation at 7:30pm! It will be great to be able to share with you what we will be accomplishing throughout the school year^^*
