Hello Grade 3 Families!
I hope that you are enjoying your weekend. Taking a family walk in rainy weather is a wonderful occasion to remember what it feels like to be a child again^^*
This week in Language Arts the students will be writing a colour poem. The focus will be on using adjectives to create interesting descriptive sentences. Next week they will be reading their poems to their peers with the intention of painting vivid images, through their descriptive sentences, in the listeners mind.
This week in Grade 3 we will also be starting a novel study. It is a cross-curricular activity involving LA and social studies. It is a non-fiction novel about an 8 year old girl in the 1700s filled with values of faith, courage and friendship, as she moves to a new settlement and becomes friends with the First Nation’s People that live near the settlement. We will be exploring how they shared some common experiences and aspects of life, along with the ways in which they were different.
I am looking forward to meeting you on either October 22 or October 23. Thank-you to the parents who have already registered for a conference time. Oct. 30th ~ Dress Down Day for Halloween: Students may come to school dressed in a costume (please see the Thursday letter for guidelines) or wear orange and/or black clothes.
Please send a $2 donation for our school’s foster child in Africa.
Because of COVID-19 protocols, families are not allowed to send any treats to school to be distributed to other students (edible or other). We will be doing Halloween activities throughout the day and if you would like to send an extra-special snack for your child to eat during our afternoon activity you are welcome to do so. Please ensure that the snack is nut-free. Thank-you!
