Grade 3

November 1st ~ 5th

Hello Grade 3 Families!

I hope that you all have a wonderful time celebrating Halloween today! We definitely had a great time celebrating it at St. Paul’s and in the Grade 3 classroom on Friday! It was a lot of fun looking at the different costumes. The students also really enjoyed being able to share candy with their classmates again^^*

On Friday morning we had the Walkathon assembly where we found out that the St. Paul families raised a grand total of $71,391.00! Thank you so much for having made this possible through your devotion and commitment! Grade 3 is the primary class that raised the highest amount of funds so we will be having a pizza lunch^^* I will let you know when as soon as the date has been decided.

Tomorrow is All Saints’ Day: a celebration in which we honor the holy men and women who have gone before us in faith. We will be talking about saints at various times within the month of November. On Tuesday during All Souls’ Day, we will be discussing how we can pray for the souls of the faithful departed throughout the month of November.

Due to some unexpected changes, the Grade 3 students will be doing the readings during mass this coming Thursday. You are welcome to join us.

Friday, November 5th, is when you can view your child’s Interim digital report in their ClassDojo Portfolio^^* They have already started to post some of their work, so it is important to not look at their portfolio postings until Friday. Then you can  go over them with your child at that time. I hope that you enjoy looking at them as much as your child enjoyed doing them and posting them in their personal portfolio.

Here are a few of the things that we will be doing in the next term:

Christian Education: – We’ll be looking at the 4 mysteries of the Rosary; praying the Rosary; and discussing the sacredness of our bodies and how they are a Gift from God

Math: – We’ve finished unit 1 and will be starting unit 2 in which we will be looking at numbers up to 1000; representing these numbers concretely, pictorially, symbolically, and in words; skip-counting forwards and backwards by 3s, 4s and 25s

LA: The Grade 3 students will be writing paragraphs using the Four Square method

Reading: We will be starting the Read Well program

Science: The Grade 3 students will  be learning about biodiversity, food chains and will explore various ecosystems

Art: They will do a Haida Art activity
