Grade 3

November 11th-15th

Hello Grade 3 Families!

It was wonderful to see those of you who were able to be present at the Remembrance Day Assembly. It was a memorable ceremony, and a real joy and touching moment, to see all of the Grade 3 students place the poppies in a circle to form the wreath! In class, we had talked about the importance of doing it in a purposeful and meaningful way by thinking of the fallen soldiers and our departed loved ones, as they placed the poppies on the ground. Even though they may not have thought about it on the moment, I feel that our having talked about it brought more thoughtfulness to the gesture.

We started our Read Well program last week. For our first week, it went quite well. I was able to meet two groups, and this week I’ll be able to meet with two more. The other students were able to continue working on perfecting their skill of staying on task at the various stations.

We’ve also started our spelling tests. On Wednesday, the groups will receive their next word list. Since this week is only a 3 day week, and next Friday, November 22nd is a Pro-D Day, the students will have their spelling test on  Thursday, November 21st.

This coming Wednesday will be the Walkathon Pizza Lunch: there will be cheese pizza, pepperoni & cheese pizza as requested by the students, and one vegetarian pizza, to be shared with the students, as requested by the teacher^^* Once again, thank you so much for supporting your children in raising and collecting the Walkathon funds!

This coming Thursday, November 14th, I will have a Professional Development Day. Unless there are any changes, Miss Carroll will be the one replacing me.
