Grade 3

June 7th ~ 11th

Hello Grade 3 Families!

On Thursday I had the pleasure of leading a healing ceremony with the Grade 3 students. Being a Métis, my mother is Northern Tutchone and my father is French-Canadian, I’ve led healing ceremonies in the past but hadn’t done so in a while. It was wonderful to take out my eagle feather, and use the purifying power of sage, once again.  As soon as we went outside and formed the circle, an eagle flew over the school yard and circled around it several times. It’s as though the Holy Spirit was speaking to us through the eagle to let us know that His loving presence was with us during the ceremony.

We prayed for the repose of the souls of the 215 children who lost their lives at the residential school in Kamloops. We asked that their deaths have not happened in vain, and that the discovery of their bodies give everyone the incentive to never allow it to happen again. It was a touching and meaningful way to end our Social Studies unit on Indigenous People.

I have started to post the Social Studies partner presentations in their ClassDojo portfolios. Please take the time to look at them with your child. I am really pleased to see how much they’ve improved since the beginning of the school year^^*

This week the Grade 3 students will be doing their oral presentations on the topic that they chose. On Monday we will be deciding the order of the presentations, and they will then start on Tuesday.

Thank you for handing in the forms and the amount required for our pizza lunch on Fun Day. It will be an exciting day for the Grade 3 students^^*

Justice Guno’s funeral will be held on Tuesday of this week. If you have not yet read the email I sent to all of the Grade 3 Families, please do so before the end of the weekend. Let us continue to keep the Guno family in our hearts and in our prayers, and ask that God give them the strength and comfort they need during this difficult time.
