Dear Grade Two Families,
In class, your children have been learning different mental math strategies to help them with their addition fact fluency. They have also been practicing these new strategies by playing card games and dice games! Starting this week, the students will be receiving math challenges every Tuesday in which they are to answer as many equations as they can in a minute. The class had a few practice drills this past week and I was blown away with how quickly they were able to complete their challenges! Keep up the good work, Grade Two!
The students also did a wonderful job receiving the sacrament of Reconciliation on Friday! After they were finished, Father Smith said he was very impressed with how reverent and prepared they were. I also heard the children saying how clean their hearts felt again! Thank you, parents, for practicing with your children at home and for encouraging them so that they could re-experience the fullness of the sacrament!
Speaking of sacraments, this coming week, Grade Two will be working on the last chapter of their Gold Book. While the format and date for First Communion remains uncertain, I just wanted to thank you very much for continuing to work hard to prepare your children for this important sacrament! Your guidance and support is most appreciated.
Additionally, this coming Wednesday, our class will be having a Mass to honour Mary, the Mother of Jesus! As part of her crowning ceremony, each child will be provided with a flower to present to Mother Mary at the beginning of Mass. A special thank you to Mrs. Secord for organizing the flowers for the children! During the month of May, Grade Two will also be praying a Hail Mary every day as well as learning more about our Blessed Mother.
