Grade 1

Week of October 18 – 22

Hello Grade One Families!

I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend, wet as it is!

Thank-you to everyone for returning the field trip permission forms this week! Another item that was due this past week was the Walkathon pledge form and money. Thank-you to everyone who sent that in already! If you have not yet submitted the form and money, please send it with your child on Monday morning or drop it off at the school office by Monday at 3:00pm. Thank-you for your support of this important fundraising event!

This week we started a few new things in Grade One. The students are now doing “reading group station rotations” including small group reading time with me as one of the stations. It is super to have the opportunity to see the students work diligently and independently on their activities. Now that we have been at school for a few weeks, we are also taking the time to learn about how we can have a happy classroom. The students have wonderful ideas about how this can happen and will now explore each of their ideas further; such as, “What does it look like to be a good leader and share my abilities with others?”. We have also starting learning about collecting data and showing that data on graphs. Yesterday we found out that winter is definitely the preferred season of the majority of the Grade One students. In the beautiful season of autumn, we will also be focussing on God as our Creator and the story of creation in Genesis.

Please note these reminders for next week:
