Week of November 4 – 8

Hello Grade One Families!

What a fun week we had getting ready for and then celebrating Halloween! The students all seemed to have had a fantastic time on Thursday evening as well. As you can imagine, Friday was a quiet day in Grade One and by 3 o’clock, everyone was more than ready to go home.

Yesterday was All Saints’ Day and today is All Souls’ Day. Both of these Feast Days will play and important part of our learning in Religion classes this month. Everyday the children will hear the story of one of the Saints. We will also be discussing how we can be Saints and how this connects with the theme: “I Can Do All Things Through Christ”. On Monday, each child in Grade One will bring home a paper upon which I would like them (with your help) to write names of family and friends who have died. Please send the papers back to school on Tuesday. The papers will have a special place on our classroom prayer table and we will pray for these people every day.

All individual photo orders were due yesterday. If you would like your child to have a retake, please send in the photo proof envelope by November 8 so that I can prepare a list for the photographer. Retakes will be on Wednesday November 13. Thank-you!

This week we will finish up some theme work from October. In next week’s blog post, I will outline our learning themes up until Christmas.

Please note the following reminders for the upcoming week:
