Grade 1

Week of November 1 – 5

Hello Grade One Families!

Happy Halloween! I hope that you have all enjoyed celebrating this fun day today. Tomorrow is an even more important day as we celebrate All Saints’ Day. We rejoice in the saints in heaven who bless us with their prayers and intercessions, and focus on how we can live our lives in ways that show that we too are created for sainthood. The saints will be a particular focus for the Grade One class during the month of November.

This week in Grade One we will continue our unit on data collection. The students have requested more time to collect data from their classmates on subjects that interest them such as “What is your favourite animal?”. It is such a fun way to learn about each other! We will also continue on the theme of school life with activities that focus on friendship, leadership and being a successful learner. During our Book Talk, the students will be introduced to the idea of story plots and how we can sequence the events in a story. Finally, and most importantly, we will be practicing to lead the prayer with our Grade Four buddies at the school Assembly on Wednesday afternoon. All of this, along with the many other daily things that go on in Grade One will make for a very busy week!
