Grade 1

Week of May 30 – June 3, 2022

Hello Grade One Families!
It’s always a bit of a surprise to me when I first write “June” on a blog post. Part of me wonders how we got here so quickly and another part reflects on the amazing growth I have seen in the students over the course of the school year. I am looking forward to these last few weeks of school with this wonderful group of children who bring so much joy, curiosity and enthusiasm with them to school every day.

Homework in June

During the month of June, we will not be using the homework folders or calendars. Please check your child’s agenda book daily to see their assignment or reminder for that day. If you still have a homework folder or “I’m a Gift from God” workbook at your home, please return it on Monday.  All students are welcome to post show and tell photos or videos on their ClassDojo Portfolio even though it will not be officially assigned. They are welcome to post as many as two per week.

“I’m a Gift from God”

This week we will cover Concept B since we did not get to it last week. Please use the parent package notes to discuss the lessons from Concept B with your child at home.

Looking Ahead:

There are many special events coming up in the month of June:

Wednesday June 15 ~ This will be the last Grade One and Four led Assembly for the school year. We hope that you can join us from 1 – 2pm in the gym.

Friday June 17 ~ The students may wear yellow and blue clothes to school this day in support of the Grade 7 fundraiser for Ukraine. They will receive their pre-ordered treats on this day.

Tuesday June 21 ~ The last school Mass will be this morning at 9:00am. It is a special Farewell Mass for the Grade 7 students which is why it is on Tuesday not Thursday this week.

Friday June 24 ~ There will be an appreciation breakfast for parents before we begin our school “Fun Day”. Dismissal on this day is at 12:30pm. Parents are welcome to be with us for any or all of this day.

Monday June 27 ~ The Primary students will be going to Garden City Park for a picnic. Permission forms will be sent home soon.

Tuesday June 28 ~ This is the last day of school for the students. Dismissal on this day will be at 12:00pm.

I will be sending home more information about all of these days as they get a bit closer. We hope that you will be able to join us for many of these school community events.

Please email me at nkelly@stpaulschool.ca if you have any questions or concerns.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and have a fabulous week ahead!

Mrs. Kelly 🙂
