Week of February 3 – 7

Hello Grade One Families!

Wow! Here we are in February already! Halfway through the school year! A wonderful time to reflect on the growth and accomplishments of the students so far this year as you will see in the Communicating Student Learning documents that will be sent home on Friday. I look forward to the rest of the school year with the Grade One students as we explore, wonder and learn together.

Thank-you for preparing your children so well for the sharing presentations last week. Everyone was so excited! We are all looking forward to seeing and hearing this week’s presentations.

For our science unit on light, we will be using flashlights for several of the experiments and explorations. If you have a small flashlight at home that your child can bring to school for the next couple of weeks, that would be fantastic. If everyone has their own flashlight that is even better! The first day that we will be using the flashlights is Thursday February 6. Please label the flashlight with your child’s name and send it in on or before this Thursday. Thank-you very much!

The Richmond Public Library has sent home a library card sign-up sheet for every student in Grade One and Four. Please read and fill out the sheet even if your child already has a library card. I will be contacting the librarian to pick up the sheets at the end of the week so please have the completed sheet submitted by Friday. Thank-you!
