Grade 1

Week of February 1 – 5

Hello Grade One Families!

Wow! It is February already!! We are half way through our school year and I would like to take this opportunity to once again express my appreciation for all of your support during this most unique school year. I have found that recently the students have been very vocal about expressing their unhappiness with the pandemic. They are tired of wearing masks and are sad that they can’t have playdates with classmates. There was an interesting debate the other day about whether the relief of having the pandemic over outweighs the pain of getting a shot for vaccine. They don’t need me to lead these conversations so I moderate. It is quite something to have the privilege to listen to the pandemic through the eyes of 6 year olds. I am happy that they are able to talk about their feelings about where their world is at right now and am trying to help them to lean toward the positive. They are healthy, they are together, and we try to have fun everyday!

Another thing that will be different this year is that we will not be celebrating Valentine’s Day at school. Please do not send valentine cards or treats to school this year as per our COVID-19 protocols. It actually works out that there is no school for students from February 11 – 15 so we will not be in session on February 14.

Please note the following for the upcoming week:
