Grade 2

Home Reading

The Grade 2 Class is starting their Home Reading!

The goal of home reading is for enjoyment, confidence and fluency in reading. In order to do this, the children will need to read every day.

We will use RAZ Kids for our home reading program. On Tuesday, Sept. 22, students will take home their log-in and password. You can access RAZ Kids via the website on a laptop or through the app on an iPad, tablet or a mobile device. Your child is assigned the level they last had at the end of Grade 1 and based on the reading that they do in school. Unfortunately, I am unable to transfer the points and accounts from Grade 1.

Students will read for 20 minutes a day with an adult nearby. It can be a combination of reading on their own and reading aloud. At least two times a week, record one book for Mrs. Teodosio to listen to.

If you are unable to use the online platform, please let me know as soon as possible so I can provide you with paper copies.

As the year progresses, our home reading program will evolve to continue to support your child’s reading. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you very much for your support!

Happy reading!
