First Week of School!

 Dear Families of Grade 5,

I had such a great day meeting the students of Grade 5. I couldn't help but compliment them on their ability to work cooperatively on a problem solving task. They made marshmallow castles and worked with their group to create the tallest one. Our winning group created a structure that was 35 cm high. It was a great accomplishment considering the sticky materials we had to work with. We finished off our morning together with a read aloud of What Matters, a picture book that pairs very well with our theme for this year, Care for Everyone in our Common Home. We discussed what this looks like in our community and related it to our book. Each student was then given a small card to write something that matters to them which will be displayed on one of the bulletin boards in the classroom.
